Bio
Andrew Hsu is a pioneer in user-centric electronics hardware, with a focus on human-device interaction. For over 20 years, Andrew led the development and mass market adoption of touch and later voice interfaces in mobile devices at Synaptics, Inc. There, he invented the touchscreen for mobile devices, worked on the design of the world’s first single chip touch controller, and drove the adoption of fingerprint and voice input in mobile devices.
After Synaptics, Andrew continued work on user interaction by leading product management at touch interface start-up, Sensel, and leading business development for a software-based hand tracking start-up ManoMotion.
Andrew received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology. He also holds a Master of Science in Computer and Information Sciences, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Neuroscience, both from the University of Pennsylvania. During his free time, Andrew is a competitive road bicyclist, advocate for Complete Streets, and enjoys teaching outdoor education through BSA Scouting.
