Salesforce and Google Cloud have expanded a partnership that will bring Google's Gemini models to Agentforce, integrate Salesforce Service Cloud tightly with Google Customer Engagement Suite and enable handoffs between the companies' AI agents.
Agentforce 2.0 includes Slack integration, more workflows across the enterprise and is generally available in February. Agentforce 2.0's debut also includes a new tagline dubbing the effort a "digital labor platform" that can move beyond Salesforce's core sales, service and CRM borders.
Salesforce posted a mixed third quarter and fourth quarter outlook as revenue was up 8% from a year ago. The company saw revenue growth decelerate sequentially across multiple categories.
Salesforce is rolling out AI agents via its Agentforce platform across its core clouds including Sales, Service, Marketing and Commerce. What remains to be seen is whether enterprises will pay $2 per conversation for Agentforce assuming no volume discounts.
Salesforce's purchase of Own Company for $1.9 billion highlights how the company has to play small ball with mergers and acquisitions given the scrutiny it gets with big deals. But keep in mind that small acquisitions such as Airkit.ai, which powered Salesforce’s Agentforce strategy, can have bigger impact.
With Agentforce, Salesforce is betting that it can charge by conversation and find the path back to growth.
