Executive Summary

The issue of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) has been divisive among the workforce. That may be partly because a McKinsey study that launched the DEI movement used race, ethnicity, and gender as attributes for achieving diversity; however, diversity is much more than superficial factors. In this report, Constellation introduces four other attributes to consider in achieving diversity: values, performance, experiences, and competencies. By using this approach, C-suite executives can achieve diversity goals and meet performance expectations while avoiding outright discriminatory practices.
