Executive Summary
This report covers current and evolving trends in the artificial intelligence (AI) space. The fast progression from pure compute and infrastructure advances has evolved into a platform phase, which abstracts the underlying infrastructure and simplifies the adoption and support of generative AI (GenAI) use cases. Practically, we have entered the platform-as-a-service (PaaS) phase of AI.
The report then takes a look at four typical GenAI use cases and benchmarks them, comparing the traditional do-it-yourself (DIY) approach (for both advanced and average talented AI teams) with the adoption of Amazon Bedrock (for novice to aspiring but still learning teams) and demonstrates how, not surprisingly, the PaaS approach results in superior performance—from 5.3x to 17.8x—across the four use cases of agent creation and operation, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), guardrails, and AI workflows.
As is characteristic for Constellation Research, this report concludes with tangible recommendations for CxOs.
