Thomas Phelps IV is the CIO and SVP of Corporate Strategy for Laserfiche, a leading provider of intelligent process automation and enterprise content management software. Laserfiche was named a Visionary for content services platform by Gartner. Thomas leads IT Services, Business Transformation Office, Product & Customer Support, and Governance, Risk & Compliance—and other areas such as data analytics, analyst relations and strategic alliances.
In 2019, Thomas became an Adjunct Professor for the Master in Accounting with Emphasis on Data and Analytics (MAcc D+A) program at the University of Southern California.
Previously, Thomas was PwC’s national entertainment and media champion for cybersecurity. He led the innovation of content security practices used worldwide by the motion picture industry. Thomas was the Advisory Services leader for a $30B aerospace and defense company and a $15B tech company. He led engagements for Fortune 500 companies on IT transformation, security, privacy, internal audit and business continuity management.
Prior to PwC, Thomas was part of three new business initiatives at Motorola, including the start-up Internet Software Products Division. This included the start-up Internet Software Products Division and the multi-billion dollar Motorola MOS 12 semiconductor fab.
Thomas has co-authored/contributed to five books, including publications by PwC, ISACA and CRC Press. He has co-chaired a session at the Wall Street Journal CIO Network Annual Meeting, and been cited in many publications, including WSJ, Fox Business, Forbes, The Economist, CIO.com, IDG Connect, Tech Target and others. He has also been cited in The Robotic Process Automation Handbook.
Thomas was the inaugural Chairperson of Long Beach Accelerator. He is the Executive Chair of Innovate@UCLA. He is on the 49er Foundation board for Cal State Long Beach, which is responsible for a $150M+ endowment. He is a past-president of ISACA Los Angeles and was on the Speakers Bureau for ISACA International.
He is a founding member and Past-President of Ascend Los Angeles Metro, a Pan-Asian leadership organization. He launched student chapters at USC in 2010 and UCLA in 2013. He created soft-skills leadership courses, led workshops at the National Convention and mentored four different boards over 12 years.
