Supernova Award Category:
Future of Work: Human Capital Management
The Problem:

Capgemini faced a challenge in sourcing highly skilled IT professionals, software developers and engineers in a consistent and effective way across its multiple operating countries. The company sought a flexible and cost-effective global solution, that can be heavily integrated, to access candidates with the desired skills and quality at the right time.

The Solution:

Capgemini adopted the SAP Fieldglass Contingent Workforce Management application for its end-to-end functionality in a single application. Fieldglass offers a Total Workforce Management innovative product roadmap that can evolve with Capgemini’s business in managing an ever-growing external workforce.

The Results:

With the help of SAP Fieldglass, Capgemini has established an enterprise-wide strategy for engaging contingent workers with access to the best professional talent, more diverse workers, and cost-saving opportunities. By automating the entire process of attracting and managing flexible labor – from requisition all the way through invoice and payment – the consulting firm now has standard, efficient, and compliant processes across its multiple countries. In addition, Capgemini’s procurement team can measure success with comprehensive reporting on time to fill, cost, compliance, quality, and more.

Since implementing the solution, Capgemini has already achieved impressive results. Notably, 98% of  the firm's global contingent workforce spend is now captured in the SAP Fieldglass solution. Additionally, the company can measure business process improvements with a fulfillment rate of 80%, along with a 60% reduction in its time-to-fill rate.

With comprehensive visibility and transparency, Capgemini has access to deep insights into its global spend, market position, and opportunities for cost optimization, empowering the company to mitigate risk and make strategic sourcing decisions. Its end-to-end visibility and control over every aspect of its global external workforce helps the company get more work done on time, at the highest quality, and at the right cost.

The Technology:

Capgemini implemented SAP Fieldglass Contingent Workforce Management, a cloud-based application to help initiate, engage, manage, and complete all projects involving contingent workers through a single, integrated platform. By adopting this solution, the firm now has end-to-end visibility and control over every aspect of its global external workforce, helping them get more work done on time and maintain quality standards.

Disruptive Factor:

Challenges during implementation include:

  • Organizational changes towards one global ownership by Procurement.
  • Dealing with tax, legal and statutory requirements in more than 30 countries covering America, Europe and APAC - incl. cultural and market differences while ambition to have one global solution.

Game-changing aspects of this project include:

  • From local solutions with diverse ownerships and manual processes towards one global ownership, one global operating model underpinned by one global SAP Fieldglass set up and supported by regional CW management delivery centers.
  • From pure spend visibility to a global intelligent CW supply chain with KPIs and dashboards covering incoming volumes, results and the entire process steps; from reactive CW engagement to being integral part of strategic and tactical workforce planning between Operations, Talent Acquisition (for perm hiring), L&D and Procurement (for CW sourcing).
Shining Moment:

Capgemini is most proud of:

  • Fully integrated intelligent CW supply chain in 30 countries, giving us complete insight into incoming volumes, results and the entire process steps with the full range of attributes and in various dimensions
