Dan Vinh is vice president of marketing and communications at The Culinary Institute of America (CIA). In this position, Mr. Vinh is responsible for building the CIA brand’s continued leadership in the culinary world; driving enrollment for the college; and increasing revenue for both consumer operations—including restaurants, food enthusiast classes, and The CIA at Copia foodie destination in Napa—and for industry thought leadership conferences and consulting services.
Mr. Vinh joined the CIA in 2018 after almost a decade as an executive with Marriott International. During his tenure at Marriott, he successfully grew the Renaissance Hotels brand into a global lifestyle portfolio built around experiential activations; innovative partnerships in music, arts, and food and beverage; and content marketing and social media, of which it was an early adopter. He also launched the European AC Hotels brand into the United States.
A digital native marketer, Mr. Vinh was vice president of marketing for AOL’s mobile services and Netscape ISP, and marketing director for e-commerce pioneer 1-800-FLOWERS.com. He started his marketing career as a senior brand manager at Unilever and as a management consultant with IBM Consulting Group.
Dan Vinh holds an MBA degree in Marketing and Strategy from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management in Evanston, IL. The Washington, DC native earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Management Information Systems from the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce in Charlottesville, VA, where he is a member of the Alumni Marketing Advisory Council.
Mr. Vinh was the recipient of the 2015 Internationalist of the Year Award from the Association of National Advertisers, for his global brand development work at Marriott. He has been a panelist at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference in Austin, TX and a guest lecturer at several universities. Mr. Vinh is currently also an advisor for Moblty, Inc., a data-driven digital media technology, and Farmshelf, an indoor vertical farming company.
