Alfred Tom is the co-founder and CEO of Wivity Inc., a company that specializes in developing software for the internet of things. Prior to starting Wivity, Alfred worked as a researcher and investment analyst for General Motors. In this role, they were responsible for scouting out new technologies and companies that could potentially be used by GM, and for writing reports on these technologies. Alfred also helped write the business plan for GM Ventures, GM's corporate venture capital firm. In addition, Alfred was responsible for managing multiple prototype projects, such as a crowd-sourced road trip website and a smartphone screen-casting app. Alfred also played a key role in defining the architecture for GM's next-generation infotainment platform. After leaving GM, Alfred decided to start their own company, Wivity Inc., which has been successful in developing software for the internet of things.
Alfred Tom has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an MSEE in computer architecture and digital communications from Stanford University, and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
