Vipin Gupta is group vice president and chief information officer of Toyota Financial Services (TFS). In this role, Gupta leads all aspects of Digital Transformation and Information Technology to transform, grow and expand the business of TFS. He reports to Mark Templin, president and CEO of TFS.
Since joining Toyota in 2018, Gupta has been instrumental in the rapid digital transformation of TFS into a mobility-finance-as-a-service business for many brands. This was done using innovative multi-tenant platform architecture, groundbreaking agile digital factories and a steady focus on automation. He also launched the TFS Digital Academy, with a mission to build a digital-savvy workforce.
Before joining Toyota, Gupta served as CIO for KeyBank’s Retail and Private Banking business, where he led customer-focused digital transformation. Before KeyBank, he served as Business Information Officer at PNC/National City Bank and as partner at Capgemini/Ernst & Young, where he focused on e-business transformation at global financial services institutions. He was instrumental in launching Capgemini’s SEI CMM Level 5 delivery center and global banking innovation practice. In the early years of his career, Gupta served in NIIT’s global consulting business where he honed the craft of software engineering through initiatives ranging from large manufacturing business transformation to deployment of mobile apps for hand-held devices.
Gupta has been recognized by CIO Magazine as a CIO 100 Honoree, included on the Ones to Watch, and as a Standout Winner in Innovation. He was recently recognized as the winner of the 2021 MIT Sloan CIO Leadership Award for leading TFS in delivering exemplary levels of business value through the innovative use of IT. Gupta holds a Master of Computer Applications degree in computer science and business management from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, India.
