Rebecca is CEO at the Partnership on AI. In this role, Rebecca oversees the organization’s mission and strategy. Working with our global community of Partners, Rebecca leads the PAI Team so that developments in AI advance positive outcomes for people and society. Prior to PAI, Rebecca was VP, Engagement and Public Policy at CIFAR where she founded their global knowledge mobilization practice in 2014, bringing together experts in industry, civil society, healthcare and government to accelerate the societal impact of CIFAR’s research programs. In 2017, she was responsible for the launch of CIFAR’s AI & Society program to support international working groups and thought leadership on the questions AI poses for all aspects of policy and society. In 2019, she was honoured as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and holds an M.Phil. in Social and Political Sciences from the University of Cambridge. Prior to joining CIFAR, she held leadership roles in research and civil society organizations as well as the private sector. She has served on hospital, foundation and non-profit boards of directors. In 2022, she was appointed to the Strategic Advisory Council of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario.
