Ken Lovell serves as the PGA TOUR’s Senior Vice President of Golf Technology where he is responsible for the operation, research and long-term development of all technology deployed to measure performance on the golf course. He is also responsible for data distribution as well as the development and creation of new ways for fans to visualize and digest professional golf at every level. He also has responsibility for the TOUR’s logistics, and spatial technologies arms as well as its outdoor entertainment function. Lovell has worked at the TOUR since 2000 when he was hired to create the TOUR’s research department and bring the measurement of consumer needs, preferences and ideas to the decision-making processes of the TOUR. He was responsible for developing research methods and resources for all business units within the TOUR, providing competitive intelligence, exploring strategic development opportunities as well as providing support where necessary to the TOUR’s partners. This has included developing information and methods in areas such as sponsorship measurement, retail sales research, audience measurement and interactions between viewing habits, fan attitudes and golf participation. During his time at the TOUR, Lovell has also had responsibility for exploratory research such as modeling professional player performance statistics to build more compelling and entertaining competitions for fans such as the FedExCup and developing strategies for simultaneously adding to fan entertainment and sponsor value. He also has spent time in roles with responsibility for communications messaging strategy, digital media development and fan development, before serving as Senior Vice President of Marketing with specific responsibility for International Marketing, U.S. Multicultural Marketing, Marketing Analytics and the marketing of the TOUR’s new venture properties such as Teeoff.com, PGA TOUR Superstores and PGA TOUR Live. Prior to his work with the PGA TOUR, he was with Procter and Gamble where he was responsible for consumer research on powder laundry detergent globally as well as new laundry forms in the United States. He holds a B.A. in History from Brigham Young University and an M.S.M. from the Krannert Graduate School of Management at Purdue University. While working with the PGA TOUR, Lovell has also served as an executive in residence and adjunct professor for the Sports Analytics Center at the University of North Florida.
