The Project

We used an innovative Facebook based application to link with our customers and to reach out to a new audience of those customer’s Facebook friends.  The application is called “CruisesOnly Rewards Program”.  The two business goals were:  Reducing PPC costs, and tracking revenue directly from social media.

Metrics Matter

Prior to this project, CruisesOnly would pay around $1.20 per click.  Within the application we were able to generate clicks at less than 1 cent each.  We are now also able to track sales from Facebook directly.  Purchases can be made from within the application, and we can track who goes to the website from the application as well.

Disruptive Factor 

Before this project, we relied on our fan page to drive Facebook originated traffic to our web site to sell cruises. There was no way to quantify results of our efforts on Facebook.   After we employed the “CruisesOnly Rewards Program” we have been delighted in the sales and awareness generated.  The brass at our company have gone from skeptics, to believers in the power of social marketing.

Shining Moment 

The best moment was when we realized the power we had with our application.  We realized one particular “Fun in the sun” post was generating a lot of action resulting in an increase in sales.  The immediacy of seeing our marketing effort work in real time was awesome!
