Future of Work

The Company

The InterPortPolice -- International Association of Airport and Seaport Police -- coordinates information sharing, intelligence, training, best practices and operational issues with member jurisdictions having responsibility for law enforcement and public safety at airports, seaports and the transport system within their nation and community. Since 1969, departments and agencies have worked together as a Global Force to prevent terrorism and serious transnational crime; ensuring the public safety of passengers, the supply chain and critical infrastructure worldwide.

The Problem

In the wake of intelligence failures around the September 11th attacks, law enforcement agencies were forced to rethink their strategies around interagency communications, information sharing, operations, training and best practices. InterPortPolice began searching for a technology that would help to break down information silos yet provide a secure platform for exchanging ideas and relevant updates.

The Solution

InterPortPolice deployed tibbr, an Enterprise Social Network (ESN), to give the International Law Enforcement Association a Streamlined and Secure Network to Share Information, Intelligence and Best Practices.

The Results

InterPortPolice, the majority of law enforcement officers at the airports and seaports are away from their desks 90 percent of the time. The robust mobile offerings of tibbr, including its geolocation capability, were of utmost importance to InterPortPolice. With tibbr GEO, physical places -- cargo containers, ships, airplanes, and more -- are turned into data hubs that immediately and proactively stream important insights relevant to that specific place, allowing officers to respond appropriately to any given situation. Officers in the field need instant access to shared information throughout the day, and tibbr GEO is the only tool able to push critical, location-based information to the right person at the right time. InterPortPolice plans to offer to integrate tibbr GEO into airports, seaports, transport, border and the supply chain for effective security and operational sharing.

The Technology

With more than 1.5 million users in more than 100 countries, tibbr is the social enterprise platform that is revolutionizing the way we work, collaborate, learn and share. tibbr connects people, applications and data in context in an entirely personal way. tibbr brings together what matters -- to individuals or groups -- to get work done better, faster. It's an open, intensely flexible platform that can be delivered on premise or in the cloud. Learn more at www.tibbr.com.

Metrics

Due to the sensitive nature of the information and data collected, it is difficult to publish key statistics.  However, there are currently jurisdictions from 74 different countries on the platform. Although the number of countries will continue to grow the current concentration is on brining in additional personnel and discussion subject as a normal aspect of daily operations.  Some additional detail may be provided privately with Jay Grant.

Disruptive Factor

This is about getting the right information relevant to location, and fast-- leveraging geo-based technology with information sharing, and collaboration, allows for accelerated time to case closure. - See more at: http://www.tibbr.com/blog/topics/enterprise-social-network-topics/interp...

Shining Moment

It's imperative that security and law enforcement services have unobstructed access to tools that help them communicate and share information in order to assure the safety of those they're sworn to protect.

For InterPortPolice, having a secure network for real-time communication is invaluable. Using tibbr, they've been able to break down information silos, ultimately giving them the ability to leverage the knowledge of all their officers across their entire global network.
